Tennis

Tennis is a racket sport played between either two players (singles) or two teams of two players each (doubles). The objective of the game is to hit a ball over a net and into the opponent’s court, aiming to score points by making it difficult for the opponent to return the ball. The game is played on a rectangular court, divided by a net, and can be played on various surfaces, including grass, clay, and hard courts. Points are scored in a sequence of games, which are further compiled into sets. A match is typically played in a best-of-three or best-of-five sets format. Tennis emphasizes skill, strategy, and athleticism, featuring various strokes such as serves, forehands, backhands, volleys, and overheads. The sport has a rich history and is governed by various organizations, with major tournaments including Wimbledon, the US Open, the French Open, and the Australian Open, known collectively as the Grand Slam events.
